Yvonne Muinde

Yvonne Muinde is a fine artist and an award-winning digital matte and concept painter working in the VFX film industry. She has lived and worked in the USA – ILM , Australia-Animal Logic, New Zealand- Weta Digital and Canada-Scanline VFX. She studied Fine Arts in San Francisco and has produced artwork for shows and galleries in the US, New Zealand and Canada. Several years ago, Yvonne transitioned into Digital Matte Maintings working for world renowned Academy award winning directors on several high-profile movies. In 2009 she, with her coworkers, were awarded the Visual Effects Society award for Matte painting for their work on Avatar. Her credit list of movies is Game of Thrones, Avatar, San Andreas, Planet of the Apes, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 to name a few. Yvonne has recently relocated to Kenya and established Ikweta Arts.

Tosh Gitonga

Tosh Gitonga studied at the Kenya Institute of Marketing, where he graduated in 2003 with a Diploma in Marketing. During his studies, he started an internship at Baraka Films. where he was introduced to the world of film and worked on his first feature film Dangerous Affair in 2002 (directed by Judy Kibinge and produced by Njeri Karago) as a production assistant. Tosh continued to work on several other productions as an assistant director: Afrika, mon amour (2006), Malooned (2007), Garden of Eden (2007), The First Grader (2009). In 2010 he enrolled in the One Fine Day Film Workshop, where he was selected to direct his first feature film Nairobi Half Life, under the supervision of Tom Tykwer. It was nominated for a foreign-language Oscar award in 2012 as well as for a Beijing International Film Festival award in 2014. He continues to work as a free-lance director.

Brian Munene

Brian Munene is a writer, director, thespian and sound designer. He has won numerous awards and has been part of several notable works. Some of his accolades include ‘Between the Lines’ a short film that he wrote and produced, that was nominated for best short film at the 2015 Africa Magic Viewer’s choice awards. ‘Bait’ another short film that he wrote and produced was among fifteen other short films that were selected to screen at the Cannes Film Festival. He was part of the script writing team for ‘Watu Wote,’ a short film by the Hamburg Media School that focused on the Mandera bus attack in Kenya that was nominated for the 90th Academy Awards ‘Oscars’. In 2018, he was among 19 filmmakers selected for the 11th edition of the Berlinale –Durban Talents.

Catherine Muigai

Founder Director of Kaza Moyo Films and has been a major player in Kenya’s Film and Television industry for more than three decades. Trained extensively in film and video production with various film institutions, and participated in many local and international TV, video and film productions. Under her first production venture AMP Sonic Limited, she pioneered early Kenyan quality TV productions, leading and developing local production and technical crew in the production of a variety of outputs in particular, programming, commercials and documentaries covering official state functions. Her first major TV series was the weekly show Kipawa promoting Kenya’s unique music diversity and also had the privilege of producing The Queen’s Railway Journey, covering Queen Elizabeth II journey from Nairobi to Thika in 1983. She was also Producer/Director of UNDP television and radio series of fifty two episodes, entitled ‘Investing in People’ aired on KBC.

René Denis

René Denis is the Regional Audiovisual Attaché at the French Embassy in Kenya since 2016, responsible for film, broadcast and audiovisual media cooperation in Kenya and the East African region. His primary functions include development of markets and opportunities for both French and local productions, strengthening of local capacities for production and distribution as well as promoting cooperation between operators, professionals and regulators for the advancement of the film and audiovisual industry. René has over 30 years’ experience as Executive Producer/Head of Production having worked with several independent Film and TV production houses in France. He also served as Deputy Director for Programmes and Production for Canal + in the 1990s and was responsible for the production of iconic series from that era including ‘Nulle Part Ailleurs’, ‘La Grande Famille’, ‘Télés Dimanche’, ‘L’œil du cyclone’...
